Stop and Smell the Roses! Beautiful Benefits of Rose Essential Oil

I love rose oil. This oil is effective in all levels of life, for the soul, spirit, and body!

“The rose, queen of flowers! Her fragrance, captured in an essential oil, is the most precious of all heavenly scents. It refreshes the soul; its fragrant poetry brings joy to the heart.”  Fisher-Razzi S

No other flower has been rated so highly in literature and mythology and used for so many sacred purposes as the rose.

Rose and rose products were used in English medicine. Rose oil was used as an anti-inflammatory. Ointment of rose was used to soothe headaches. Rose syrup was said to comfort the heart.

Nowadays rose oil and rosewater are extensively used in skincare, perfumes, soaps, and food. It is one of the most complex essential oils known, containing 300 chemical compounds. In my opinion rose oil has the most diverse therapeutic properties of all essential oils.

So what is it good for?

Nervous system

Rose essential oil has a profound psychological effect. It may be used as a sedative for the nerves and is useful for the treatment of irritability and insomnia. It helps to release despair and frustration, and soothes feelings of anger, fear, and anxiety.

Skin

Rose oil is ideal for all skin types dry, mature, even sensitive due to its antiseptic, hydrating, softening, and stimulating properties.

Because of its astringent and tonic effect on capillaries, it's great for rosacea skin because it helps reduce redness and inflammation.

Rose essential water has a soothing and anti-inflammatory effect that can cool the skin, making it ideal to use during harsh weather conditions or when skin is irritated or sensitive. It can be used as a tonic after cleansing before applying your moisturizer.

Rosehip oil is extracted from the seeds of the rose bush. This oil is particularly effective in regenerating the skin. I use it in a few of my bespoke oils! I found that rosehip oil is amazing for tissue regeneration due to its retin A or retinoic acid. It’s wonderful for reducing  wrinkles, by slowing premature aging and the drying effect of the sun. It can also be effective for reducing the severity of fresh scars, by reducing redness and hyperpigmentation.

Reproductive System

Rose oil is invaluable for treating the reproductive system. Rose oil has an effect on the female sexual organs as a purifying and regulating agent. It can regulate menstruation and relieves menstrual cramps and bleeding.

You can see there are many therapeutic benefits to rose oil. Helping skin heal from scars, moisturizing, fighting inflammation, relieving stress, etc., are only a few. If you don’t have any at home, I strongly recommend adding rose oil to your routine. If you need help on how to incorporate rose oil to your regime, book a consultation to get your bespoke blend!
